Child, Adult and Marriage Counseling Program Therapists

The following is a listing of our therapists providing services in the child, adult and marriage and family therapy program.  Each therapist has there own area of expertise outlined in their profile.

 

Cheri Blossom, LISW (Licensed Independent Social Worker)

Location: 3500 Comanche, Albuquerque
Education: Master of Social Work from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana completed in 1984.  Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Louisiana State University completed in 1983.

I conduct state-of-the-art trauma resolution therapies in a safe and caring office environment.  I am well aware of the treatment necessary for children, teens, or adults to begin life anew out of the mire of traumatic memories.  I am also well-versed in assisting children, teens, and families with chronic illness/medically fragile and traumatic brain injury issues, as well as with issues/problems related to raising a child with developmental delay. Finally, I have over 20 years treating process and chemical addictions.
 

 

Bonnie Boucher, LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor)

Education: Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University in Albuquerque, NM. Graduated in 2002. Bachelor of University Studies, concentrating in communication and journalism from University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM. Graduated 1996.

I work with a variety of people ranging from children to adults. I look at each person’s unique situation and assist each one on making positive life choices.

I specialize in grief and bereavement work with individuals and families. I consider it an honor and a gift to work with people experiencing the loss of a loved one.

Working with couples in relationships is rewarding, the experiences of each couple adding to the work I do with the next. I use a direct approach, understanding why an individual is at the place he/she is and establishing a collaborative relationship. I most enjoy when people make the insightful connections to effect change in their lives.

I am available for individual counseling with adolescents, teens and adults. I also enjoy working with families who are looking for more positive, healthy ways to direct their children while teaching them how to be more responsible and respectful adults.

People with complex developmental and physical conditions are best served when everyone in their environment works collaboratively. My philosophy is to meet each person where they are non-judgmentally and with respect for their vision of their needs and goals. This allows me to tailor treatment that helps them and their team achieve their definition of quality of life. I enjoy the team process and helping all members of a client’s team work together in their best interest.

Education: Master of Divinity from Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, Illinois. Graduated in 1967.  Bachelor of Arts with a major in biology and minors in philosophy and religion from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. Graduated in 1963.

I’ve never met a client I didn’t enjoy working with. My approach to counseling is Family Systems oriented. I believe in giving my clients tools to work with that can help them heal.

I enjoy working with any client with a developmental disability. As a master educator, I enjoy the challenge of determining how a client best understands new skills. I view all “behavior as communication” and advocate for an understanding of that concept. I strive to assist the staff to understand the reasons for challenging behaviors and assist the staff in supporting the client using positive strategies.

I have been working with individuals with all types of disabilities for several years and enjoy the collaboration with individuals and their support teams.  I am reminded each day that despite life's challenges, many wonderful things are possible.  I am always amazed at the growth and accomplishments I see with the individuals I work with.
